Trung Son: Ho Chi Minh City's largest Chinese-speaking KTV cluster
If you hear Chinese-speaking guests mention “going to 9A”, this is the place — a short stretch of road in Binh Hung with close to ten KTV venues side by side.
Where Trung Son is
The Trung Son residential area sits in Binh Hung, right on the boundary of Districts 7 and 8. From Ben Thanh Market it is roughly 15 minutes by car via Nguyen Van Linh or the Nguyen Van Cu bridge. On a map it hugs the Kenh Te canal, facing District 7.
What makes it distinctive is density: almost every KTV here sits on Street 9A or a side street off it, a few minutes' walk apart. That is why Chinese-speaking guests often just call the area “9A”.
Why Chinese-speaking guests pick this area
Three practical reasons. Density — if the first venue is full, the next is next door, with no cross-district taxi. Food — the area has plenty of Chinese restaurants and late-night eateries, which suits dinner-then-singing. And familiarity — most venues here host Chinese guests routinely, so staff can communicate and the Chinese song library is complete.
Compared with District 5 (Cho Lon), Trung Son is newer and more recently fitted out. Compared with District 1 it is further from the centre, but rooms tend to be larger for the same money.
Getting there and what to show a driver
Show a driver the string “Đường số 9A, Khu dân cư Trung Sơn, Bình Hưng” and you will almost certainly arrive. Saying only “Trung Son” invites confusion with other place names, so always include “Đường số 9A” and “Bình Hưng”.
A taxi or Grab from District 1 takes about 15–20 minutes at normal times, faster after 10 PM. Every venue page here has a Google Maps directions button pre-loaded with the full address.
Which venue to choose
Because the venues sit side by side, the deciding factor is not distance but room size and price. A group of four to six should look for a venue with genuine small rooms rather than book a large one half empty. Groups above ten should ask about VIP rooms in advance, since each venue usually has only one or two.
